Do you recognize this sound? Considered by many as the announcement of spring, this distinct, loud, high-pitched “peep” is the call of a spring peeper. Hear that?! It's a sweet chorus of spring peepers! These tiny amphibians, no more than 1'' long, begin singing in early spring to attract future mates. The males typically start their "peeping" sounds in March up until June. The warmer the weather gets, the more mates they can attract so they can reproduce. Fun fact: female peepers lay their eggs singly (aka one at a time), attaching them to submerged vegetation. A female peeper can lay up to 1,500 eggs! So, next time you are out exploring, keep
