Here’s how I tiled my bathroom floor. I used a Shluter Ditra waterproof underlayment instead of cement board, sealed the gap with waterproof tape, sealed the edges with caulk, then dry fitting and cut all my tiles to the needed length, and then mortared them all down with spacers/levelers. The tiles are still curing so I don’t really know how I did lol, but it looks decent.
