This is a famous work by Josquin, called “El Grillo”. It’s thought that Josquin wrote the song to honour (or make fun of) an Italian court singer named Carlo Grillo. The ‘frottola’ (a type of secular song that preceded the madrigal) concludes by suggesting that crickets may be better singers than songbirds.
