One of the absolute joys of mark/recapture surveys is seeing turtles intermittently through a year, and seeing their growth and how they utilize their habitat. This juvenile (nicknamed “Lil G” by my buddy Caveman Wildlife) has managed some phenomenal growth, despite a fairly major injury to a front foot. He also occupies a large section of stream, using all of it. I can’t wait to recapture this turtle again over the next few years and see it continue growing! #turtles #animals #conservation #wil

We had an interesting week of capture-mark-recapture research in Lac Bay last week! The sea turtles captured in Lac Bay are predominantly green sea turtles. However, sometimes we find a hawksbill or loggerhead turtle. Last week, we found an adult loggerhead male with a carapace length of 87 cm and a weight of 82.1 kg! After all the data was collected and after receiving two shiny new tags, we let him go back into the water! | Sea Turtle Conservation Bonaire
