I'm using the abundance of alien Mulberry leaves in the suburbs to grow some silkworms this year. I bought them from a company who sells them as exotic pet food, so I like to think they're rescued. Typically, in the silk industry, the cocoons are boiled before the moths hatch, and the moths die. This is done in order to produce silk that hasn't been damaged by the hatching process.
