Professional ice sculptor Chris Foltz demonstrates how to carve an ice star for a group of students from the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute. The students are participating in tryouts for the opportunity to fly to Fairbanks, Alaska where they’ll compete in the World Ice Art Championships this February. Today the students are carving ice blocks that are 20 inches high, 20 inches wide, and weigh 175 pounds. In Alaska the blocks will measure 6 feet high, 4 feet wide, and weigh 7,000 pounds. #icescu
